Airway, Breathing & Sleep Health

Your mouth shapes how you breathe. Your breathing shapes how you sleep and live.

The connection between your mouth and your airway is more direct and more consequential than most people realise. Crowded teeth, a narrow jaw, mouth breathing, and tongue posture all influence the size and function of your upper airway, with downstream effects on sleep quality, brain oxygenation, and systemic health. Our Airway, Breathing & Sleep Health Centre assesses and addresses these connections at the dental level.

“Obstructive sleep apnoea is one of the most under-diagnosed conditions in medicine. The dentist is often the first clinician to see its signs and is one of the few who can act on them.”

The Airway Assessment

What Does It Involve?

Our approach to airway begins with a thorough screening during your dental assessment. We look at palate shape, tonsil size, tongue position, nasal breathing patterns, and signs of nocturnal bruxism and arching, all of which are markers of airway compromise. We use questionnaires, clinical measurements, and when indicated, overnight sleep testing to quantify the problem.

Where treatment is indicated, we provide oral appliance therapy for snoring and mild-to-moderate sleep apnoea, and work closely with sleep physicians and ENT specialists for more complex cases. Growth-focused airway guidance is available for children whose jaw development can be actively improved.

Our Approach

Three Principles Behind Every Appointment

01

Airway First

We assess the airway in every comprehensive evaluation because its impact on sleep, health, and development is too significant to overlook.

02

Interdisciplinary Thinking

Sleep-breathing disorders require collaboration. We work alongside sleep physicians, ENTs, and physiotherapists to ensure you receive the right level of care.

03

Early Identification

The earlier we identify airway compromise, especially in children, the greater our ability to change outcomes through growth guidance and habit correction.

The Doctors Behind Your Care

Your care is led by our senior clinicians, Dr. Srivats and Dr. Param, with over 50 years of combined clinical experience. Every finding is reviewed and explained personally; we do not delegate your understanding to anyone else.
